HollyDays in Northern ON: Part 3
/Lake Superior Provincial Park
August 3 - 4, 2020
We knew we were going to be back at Lake Superior Provincial Park again, so we decided to spend more time at Pancake Bay and left there at the last possible minute. The afternoon drive to Lake Superior PP was short, but was right in the middle of the afternoon, when a coffee is often needed for a longer drive. We should have made coffee before we left, but didn’t. Luckily, the drive was only about an hour, so Chris was able to push through as long as I kept talking to him! Otherwise, the drive was very pretty as we drove along the coast of Lake Superior.

We arrived to Site A108, which was both a pull through AND an electrical site. The pull through was handy for a quick departure in the morning (we didn’t unhitch again) and the electrical would have been handy, but our cords weren’t long enough. We didn’t really need an electrical site anyways. I booked the site a bit late, so we were a row back from the waterfront sites, but still had a great view. Our site was right across from the bathroom, which meant there was lots of foot traffic to and from the toilets. There was also a dish washing station with running water, which was super handy!

Another easy set up and we were off on a walk around the park to see where our next site would be. We found it and were excited for the amazing view we could look forward to! The trees at this park are so tall, thin and beautiful! They make it look like a very dramatic place. The beach is rocky and the water was rough when we arrived. I didn’t test out the temperature, but Chris said it was cold!
We picked up a bundle of firewood on our way in so that we could have burgers on the grill (we still don’t have a BBQ that we travel with!). The wood was a bit damp, making it a challenge, but I finally got something going and the burgers were delicious. We ate supper outside on the picnic table, soaking in the view.
Our site was the perfect place to try out my new hammock (an early birthday gift from my BFF). So cozy!

The sunset was beautiful and we had a nice view from our site. We did go over to the beach to see it a little bit better though.

Still not dark at 9:30 pm!
We knew we wanted to leave first thing (and we’re not really the best at “first thing”), so we packed up a bit to be better prepared for the morning. We watched two episodes of Indian Matchmaker and then decided to call it a night. Daisy had other plans though. I took her out and she proceeded to have a few very wet poops. We realized that it was probably because she had barely eaten since we left home! We showed her the food and she tentatively ate a few bites and then proceeded to gulp the rest down. We think that she was having so much fun that she forgot to eat!
We woke up at 7:30 am, got the coffee going, finished packing up and were on the road by 8:30 am. A new record for us! But we also knew we had a long drive ahead of us.

We only dumped our tank when we arrived at Sleeping Giant, which was a good strategy, since we were staying for three nights and knew we’d need to be more conservative with our water!
